Wirecutter & the NYT review Taro’s Origami Paper

Home/0Our Events and Updates, media/Wirecutter & the NYT review Taro’s Origami Paper

We here at Taro’s Origami Studio have a bit of a history with the New York Times.  All the way back in 2012 after Taro’s opened i nPark Slope, there was a fun profile on us entitled, “A Business that Wants to Fold” .   And then again in 2019 they had an article on the art of origami called, “The Modern Life of Origami, an Art as Old as Paper” that included models and an interview from founder Taro Yaguchi.

Then at the beginning of 2019, after noticing how hard it was to get certain origami materials, Taro’s Origami Studio expanded into their own line of origami paper and hard to find imported Japanese origami books.

Sales for the paper have steadily increased as more people have found it, but unbeknownest to the us here, our paper was actually singled out for review from the New York Times website, Wirecutter.

Founded in the spring of 2011, Wirecutter is one of the  most trusted recommendation services around.  They work with total editorial independence, and according to their site “won’t post a recommendation unless their writers and editors have deemed something the best through rigorous reporting and testing”.

With that in mind, we here at Taro’s Origami Studio are thrilled to announce that we’ve made it on their list of recommended papers for learning origami!  In fact one of their reviewers went so far as to describe it as, “just perfect”.  We always knew our paper straight from Japan was the best to work with and we’re so glad that Wirecutter agrees.
