(Tokyo) A Giant Origami Performance At Happoen Garden

Origami artist Taro Yaguchi (that’s me) gave a Giant Origami performance in Tokyo. The client requested a two-hour origami performance inside an outdoor tea ceremony room at Happoen Garden for a private event.

Usually, a Giant Origami performance is a 30-minute performance with background music and commentary by an emcee, but the client requested a two-hour performance this time.

Therefore, I folded five pieces in an hour and a half and displayed each after it was folded. In the last 30 minutes, I exhibited all of the models and gave explanations to the clients while standing next to them.

Most of the visitors were tourists from overseas who had come to Japan. When accompanied by an exhibition, the quality of the artwork needs to be high, but I thought this style was also good since a “master craftsman” feel is required for performances in Japan.
