Taro’s Current Origami Logo Design

Every good origami designer loves a challenge.  Recently we were approached by the Current Lighting Company to reproduce their logo in origami.  They were having a party for the new logo and brand release and wanted to show something unique.  We’ve done several other logo projects with companies like Twitter, Glenfiddich, and Zenefits.  Senior Origami Artist Ben Friesen took on this logo challenge.

1: Design Work

Most origami models work with edges of paper and straight lines.  This is what made the Current logo tricky, but also such a fun challenge.  Ben approached it from a few different directions, but int he end he made 2 different options for the client to choose from.  Which one do you like best?

2: Production

After the model was chosen, Ben taught the rest of the origami team how to fold it, and they got to work.  For the event they folded about 100 models of the logo for handing out and sharing with guests.

3: Performance

On the day of the event, Frank Ling delivered all the models and setup shop.  Over the course of about 3 hours or so he folded many more of the one-of-a-kind origami logos and also taught several people how to fold the model.  Everyone had a great time and we were excited to help bring their logo to life.
