Earlier this week, Taro’s Origami Studio was asked to attend the 2018 Palm Springs Shiseido Convention.  Staff was flown out and folded a myriad of origami models for delighted guests.

The 2018 convention included brands like Dolce & Gabanna, Hermès, and Laura Mercier.  Each brand had a few different ways to engage guests of the event and Taro’s was specifically tapped to help spread happiness for the Issey Miyake fragrance brand.

To begin with, the Taro’s artist setup a colorful table with 21 different shades of origami paper and then folded a new model out of each of the colors. This way when a guest stopped by, they could quickly see a bunch of different model options that could be readily folded for them.  Some people simply took one of the pre-made models, and some people specially ordered new models and watched as the paper was transformed in front of them.

Here is the finished origami model menu for the event.

Even though there were a wide variety of models presented initially (models like flowers, bunnies, boxes, cranes, animals, and dinosaurs) guests were also welcome to suggest other models as the Taro”s Origami Artists are always up for a challenge!  Some of the off-menu items that were requested and folded on demand included firetrucks, sports cars, giraffes, elephants, and even a coffin (one of the guests worked for a mortuary).  A couple of the guests were so impressed with the amount of origami and speed with which it was folded that they refused to believe it was only one person doing it.

Taro’s Origami Studio has many years of experience with entertainment event like this one and made sure everyone left happy and with a unique origami keepsake to remember the event by.  Have a look below to see some of the models up close.
