In the past Taro’s Origami Studio has worked with several exclusive brands like Tiffany’s, Dior, and Grand Seiko, but luxury luggage brand Rimowa wanted something a little different.  For their event Taro’s designed a unique flower bouquet, folded some in advance and then taught guests.

1: Brainstorming

For the new Rimowa event, there was a focus on luxury experiences.  To make it all look perfect, the Rimowa team selected specific models and colors to use and then the Taro’s team got to work on design and presentation.

2: Design and Presentation

There were a few iterations of bouquets that were discussed, but eventually the team landed on five or six hand-made flowers, all tied up in a wrap and bow.  For the models themselves, a few different models were chosen from a curated selection.  In the end, lilies in particular were a client favorite.  In order to accommodate the numbers needed for the event, Senior Folder Frank Ling actually folded about 100 flowers in advance as well.  Below you can see a few initial prototypes.

3: Event Day

Once he got the final approval and folded all the models, Frank then traveled to the Boston store for the main event.  Over the course of several hours, he guided all the guests through the folding process and made sure everyone left with a bespoke origami bouquet.  Everyone had a wonderful time.
