The beginning of the year has been a very busy time here for Taro’s Origami Studio across the country.  With large events and project scheduled from Orlando to Philly and Oakland to Dallas the staff has been hard at work helping people learn origami and we’re excited to start showing you a bit more of the work we’ve completed in San Francisco.

Late last year IBM approached us about an exciting chance to teach a large group of people for one of their enormous gatherings at the famous Moscone Center downtown.  The idea was to create a large installation of models and birds created by staff and attendees alike over the course of the week.  So to begin with, the staff worked with our Taro’s Origami folders in the area to choose some models that fit their event and also were easy enough to fold quickly.

Once the models were chosen (like the swallow to the right) the staff spent time going over the diagrams and instructions to make sure they were as easy to follow as possible.  Then, once the models and paper were selected- the staff went in early to the event and folded hundreds of models to create the initial installation of models that would be added to throughout the week.

Here you can see the beginnings of the project and see how it grew through the event.

A special thanks to Jennifer Linderman the manager for the Oakland studio for all of her amazing folding skills.
