In the summer of 2015 Taro’s Origami Studio flew to Catalina Island off the coast of Los Angeles to fold giant origami models for an enormous Bud Light party.  The party was a part of their “Up for Whatever” national campaign, and included all kinds of oversized and extravagant events and activities.

For our part of the weekend, we made gigantic origami animals (the penguin for example was around 7 feet tall) and placed them around the boardwalk.  The models themselves where created out of 4 6 foot sheets of paper taped together to create massive 12 foot sheets. We then added bamboo structures inside of each of them to keep them upright in the cool Pacific breeze.

Then people attending the festivities could come and either fold their own enormous origami models with the paper provided, or some traditionally sized versions.  Over the course of the events, over 500 people stopped by the try their hand at origami and be “Up for Whatever”.
