In the last year, Taro’s Origami Studio has undergone some vast changes.  Specifically the demand for online origami classes with individuals and groups has really skyrocketed.

While it’s almost impossible to show off everything we’ve been up to and teaching during the Covid pandemic, here is another great example of a really fun time we had recently teaching a group of colleagues at BCG- one of the largest consulting firms in the world.

The event for BCG is an example of a staple in the origami community- the Chinese New Year celebration.  Every year for the Lunar New Year there is a new zodiac creature, and seeing as how origami and paper were originally invented in China, many people and companies really enjoy folding the new animal in origami.  This year it is the year of the ox, so our staff members Joe Adia and Jeff Raab went to work finding, designing, and perfecting a few different ox models simple enough to learn and fold, and complex enough to show off the horns. It wasn’t used during the event, but Joe even designed a much more complex ox for people that really wanted a challenge!

After the event, BCG had nothing but positive things to say about how it went.  “Jeff and Joe were awesome instructors! We wanted them to teach our group how to fold an ox for Lunar New Year. Not only did they teach the class in a way that was easy to follow along—they also provided different versions of the animal to fold, so everyone left the class with 3 miniature paper oxen 🙂 Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed learning about the art of origami. Thank you!!”
