In our second collaboration with the San Francisco based ride-sharing company Uber, Taro’s Origami Studio was tasked with helping design a short program for Uber employees to fold their very own origami vehicle. Jennifer Linderman the Oakland Manager for Taro’s spearheaded the project and came up with come models for the company to choose from. There were 3 different events with hundreds of staff taking part, so it was important to make sure the design of the model was both fun to make and also easy enough for people to grasp.
Below you can see some of the versions that were played with from flat simple versions to more 3D origami cars.
In the end the staff at Uber (like always) was up for a challenge, so the more complex 3D version of the model was chosen to teach everyone. Jennifer then spent the next few days fine-tuning a teaching technique for the classes, as they were only 30 minutes each, and practiced making sure everyone could work together and arrive a the end without any excessive frustration.
Then after all the prep work and practice was done, Jennifer went all over the 3 Uber office sin the Bay Area and taught hundreds of staff the origami model. Take a look below at all of the successful origami artists!
