An Origami Party is a unique celebration to remember for lifetime!

An origami party is the perfect event for any folding enthusiast! Our events have a huge variety of models to teach guests, including animals, flowers, vehicles, dragons, and hundreds of other models.  We also have many colors and designs of origami paper that each folder can choose from to express their creativity.

Each party will come with trained origami instructor staff, and each child will be able to fold origami using our touchscreen-based origami tablets.  These tablets show participants how to make each model using step-by-step animations, and they also allow participants to work on the origami models that most interest them, at a pace they are comfortable with.  Then, after folding an origami, each child has the opportunity to decorate their work.  Not only will guests make memories during this unique experience, they will be have the chance to save those memories by taking home their very own origami art.

Rental Information

  • Because the cabin must be rented from Japan Village for every event, Taro’s must confirm the availability of your desired date and time
  • Please reach out to Frank Ling at frank@tarosorigami.com or call us at 718-360-5435 to learn more.
  • Once the availability is confirmed, we will reach out to you to book and put down the deposit.
  • The turnaround time for confirming availability is usually one business day, with the exception of  Mondays and Tuesdays when the restaurant that manages the cabin is closed; please allow for a longer response if you submit and inquiry on those dates, or over the weekend.

Cabin Location

  • The party is located in Cabin #2 in Courtyard ¾ of Industry City
  • The space is managed by the restaurant Waku Waku and is rented by Taro’s Origami Studio through Japan Village for the party
  • This is the exact GPS location of cabin (it does not have an official address)
  • The Cabin has heating/cooling and power outlets throughout
  • While there is not strict limit on total number of guests that can fit inside the Cabin, please be aware that there is limited seating for more than 20 guests
  • The cabin does not have a bathroom, sink, or refrigerator, however public bathrooms are located throughout Japan Village/industry City

Party Structure

  • We reccomend a party structure that is about 1 and ½ hours of origami folding, then ½ and hour for food/cake
  • We discourage snacks/food during the folding as it can often lead to messy or stained origami
  • At the end of the party, we will provide small paper bags (with extra orgiami paper included!) so that participants can easily bring home what they have folded.  These are included in the base price.
  • Also please note that the Waku Waku restaurant may not be open during the time of your party.

Arrival & Unloading

  • If arriving by walking/subway/rideshare, please use the main entrance at 934, 3rd Avenue.  Walk straight through the market, and the cabin will be just on the left as you enter the courtyard.
  • Loading and unloading by vehicle can be done at the entrance on 253 36th StreetThis is the closest entrance to the cabin, and much safer than using 3rd Avenue
  • Parking on side streets in Industry City is not permitted, but public metered parking is offered along 3rd Avenue and underneath the BQE
  • Alternately paid parking can be found at this lot managed by Industry City

Setup & Cleanup

  • Taro’s does not supply any tablecloths, disposable cutlery, plates/cups, or decorations, but guests may bring these if desired.
  • Taro’s does supply trash and recycling bags/receptacles
  • Customers only have 15 minutes of setup and cleanup time on either end of the two hour booking time, if the client and their guests take longer than 15 minutes to leave after their time is up, they will be charged an additional $50 late fee.
  • Clients are allowed to bring in outside decorations (banners/signs/balloons, etc.) if desired, but they must be able to be installed/broken down in the allotted time
  • Our staff will be available to assist with setup and cleanup, and will take care of all trash generated during the party.

Cancellations, Refunds, and Rescheduling

  • Bookings can be canceled up to 48 hours before their scheduled date/time and the $375 deposit is refundable until that time.
  • If you need to reschedule your booked date/time after it is confirmed with Japan Village, Taro’s needs to be notified at least two weeks in advance
  • If the newly desired date is sooner than the currently scheduled one, Taro’s needs to be notified two weeks in advance of the new date.

General FAQs

What is the recommended age for an origami party?

We suggest ages 6 and up, with the ideal age range being 7-12 years old.  Younger children may find folding from the tablet difficult and require more assistance than our two staff can provide.

If there are younger siblings that would like to participate in origami, we encourage parents or guardians to assist.

Can I book a party outside of the 11am, 2pm, and 4:30pm time slots?

It depends. We are not able to do parties earlier than 11am as Japan Village opens at 10am and we need to allow time for our staff to set up ahead of your arrival. We may be able to do another two hour window between 11am-6pm, but it may conflict with another party or event planned that day.

Can parents fold too?

Yes! Just please be aware that you must share the tablets with the kids, and our staff’s priority is helping out the children.

Where can we order pizza from?

The closest pizzeria is Table 87 which is located next door in Building 2 at ground level.  And yes, it’s very good pizza. Of course you can have any other food delivered to the party too, but we would recommend the delivery address to be the loading/unloading entrance at 253 36th Street. We recommend calling/placing all food orders in advance, or placing in person orders at the start of the party.

Is there any music?

There is no official sound system in the space, but you are welcome to bring a portable speaker if you’d like. We just ask that you keep the volume at a non-distrative level.

Can the kids keep everything they folded?

Of course!

Do you recycle your trash?

Yes, we will break down trash, paper, and plastic/metal and make sure they end up in the correct receptacles at the end of the party.

Should we tip?

Tipping is always appreciated, but not required; our staff will be happy with any amount you provide them. Tipping in leftover pizza or cake is also an option 🙂
