A New Request from Dior
After a successful event folding custom origami suits for guests. Dior asked the team to design origami gems for an event unveiling their new line of jewelry. First the design team worked through several origami shapes that could work as gems. Then they selected papers that could resemble emeralds and sapphires.
Prototyping
After that Frank Ling, one of the studio's senior artists worked to refine and expand on the model. Now it was based on a hexagon pattern instead of a square so that there was a little more complexity, and then Dior also requested unique metallic paper to help make the final models shine and sparkle. Once everything was finalized Frank got to work precreased and scoring about 70 models in advance of the event so that they could be folded as quickly as possible.
Event Day
The event itself was held at the luxurious Aman Hotel in Manhattan. The night was filled with champagne, canapés, and glamorous origami gemstones for all the attendees. We'd like to thank Dior for yet another wonderful event and we were thrilled to be a part of it.
