On a sunny day in late July of this year, Taro’s Origami Studio Senior Artist Frank Ling attended the 4th annual Green Beetz festival in East Hampton NY.   The Green Beetz organization is a non-profit with the mission to empower middle schoolers to navigate the complex issues surrounding food in the 21st century.  They also know how to have a good time and throw a great party, filled with activities like origami!

Frank gave individualized lessons to guests of all ages at the event, teaching models like flowers and animals.

People also took the chance to work as a family and fold models together.  Origami is a rare situation where children and adults are on pretty much equal footing in terms of skills and ability.  This makes it a great activity between generations.

The event was a great success in terms of both teaching origami and also educating guests about ways to think about food and the way we interact with the food industry.
